No need to select the group as well, 'Play/Stop' with the desired group selected should be enough.

Hello Jack,

Here is my setting:

mode: "Instant Recording"

Midi control # 1: Play / Stop Group 1 (Cue = on)

Midi control # 2: Play / Stop Group 2 (Cue = on)

Ableton link: enable (with patternning) Sync Quantum: Longest loop

How to set up to do this sequence?

Sequence

Group 1 is playing

I press on the midi control # 1 => Group 1 stops playback (not ok) (currently, group 1 finishes the complete reading of the longest loop) I press on the midi control # 1 => Group 1 resumes playback at the beginning of the Group 1 ( I wish it were like that)

I press on the midi control # 2 => The Group 1 finished reading until the end of the longest loop (it's ok) => Group 2 starts reading (it's ok)

I press on the midi control # 2 => The Group 2 stops reading (not ok) (currently, group 2 finishes the complete reading of the longest loop) I press on the midi control # 2 => Group 2 resumes playback at the beginning of the Group 2 ( I wish it were like that)

I press on the midi control # 1 => The Group 2 finished reading until the end of the longest loop (it's ok) => Group 1 starts reading (it's ok)

So if I understand correctly, you would like groups to stop after 1 bar but still switch after the longest loop?

You can't do this exactly but here are a couple of options.

Option 1: Set the 'Sync Quantum' to '1 bar' instead of 'Longest loop'. Groups will now play, stop and switch after 1 bar instead of the longest loop. You will need to trigger play/stop group just before the bar you would like to switch on. EDIT: I've just tried this on the current App Store build, group stop is not tied to the 'Sync Quantum' so it will not work as intended. Option 2 maybe better.

Option 2: Set the binding's CUE option to 'off'. Group play, stop and switching will happen instantly. The groups will still remain in perfect time with patterning. You could also set the binding's CUE option to 'follow' and use the main CUE button to determine wither to CUE the group play/stop or to perform it instantly.
